Investing in Gold

When it comes to investing your money, there are numerous ways in which you may want to go about this. For many, they feel that the best course of action is to invest their money in stocks and shares. The problem that this presents with is the fact that stocks and shares can jump up and down wildly in the space of a single day of trading. You can therefore end up losing a lot of money due to this, which is a real no-no when it comes to saving your money for a rainy day.

However, you could instead choose the option to invest your money in gold. The thing about gold is that there is only a finite supply of it in the world, much like diamonds and oil. Further, the price of gold has increased year on year over the last 30 years. There was a small dip in its value in 2012, but it has very much bounced back since then.

Moreover, due to the nature of gold, it makes a great investment for those that don't have a lot of space. You can get a small gold coin, or a larger gold brick depending on your budget and also space constraints, and since the value goes up each year it makes sense to invest in gold now before the price jumps up even more.

For those that are in the UK, an ideal situation would be to invest your money in gold coins. The biggest question to this is why would you invest in coins instead of bars? Well, depending on what the gold coin is, you will be exempt from Capital Gains Tax in the UK. In the UK, each person has a Capital Gains Tax of £10,000 per year when it comes to selling items. Should you exceed this limit, then you'll need to declare this information to HMRC and then you'll lose some money due to the taxed owned.

However, in the case British Gold coins, this isn't the case. You could in theory sell £100,000 worth of coins and you wanted need to pay a penny in tax for this.

Due to this, gold coins are really an amazing investment for the future, and much better than investing your money in the bank where you'll get a small return year on year. It's also for this very reason that those involved in hedge fund management invest in gold.
